Why typing faster?

Although nowadays we are becoming increasingly used to talking to our machines with the advances being made by the AI voice assistants like Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana, and Siri, typing remains as the most widely used and effective method to interact with computers. Learning to type fast and accurately will help you, not only to find more job opportunities, but also to improve your health.

The best way to improve our speed and accuracy is by using the ten fingers to type, commonly called touch typing, instead of the usual hunt and peck typing, also called, two-fingered typing. The ten finger method is a very established technique to efficiently use your computer keyboard. It may take some hours of training, but it will pay off in more ways than you can image.

With some practice and the correct finger positions you can type “blindly” on the keyboard. If you have it down, you can significantly lower your error rate and increase your typing speed at the same time. Touch typing is one of the most valuable skills anybody can learn these days, because computer skills are required in every educational institution and most of works.

Typing faster will help you to improve your skills and challenge yourself, using the different options it provides, such as defining the practice time and source or specifying whether to remove capital letters. You can also decide if you want to use sentences taken from text segments of universal literature books, or words, which cover about 1500 of the most common in the English language, being also able to define the maximum length of the words.

These options will allow you to customize the practices based on your skills, so that by simplifying the words you can focus on mastering basic typing first, and then, as you progress, you can make it harder.

When finishing every practice, the tool provides statistics about how fast and accurate you type, and information about where you should focus your attention and practice.

The statistics include total keystrokes and correct and incorrect words, as well as some performance indicators.
